BEGINNERS - OBEDIENCE & MANNERS
Tuesday - 6:00 pm Age: 8 weeks & older During this 1 hour, weekly drop-in group class we emphasize proper manners, basic obedience, socialization, & prevention of common behavior problems. Dogs are taught: Basic Commands - attention to handler, sit, down, stay, stand, come, loose leash walking, leave-it Basic Manners - accepting handling (paws/teeth) taking treats gently, no jumping, & developing a soft mouth (stopping puppy nipping) Socialization - we introduce confidence building exercises & enrichment activities & socialization with people & other dogs - important, but often neglected aspects of proper canine development We also address dog care & common behavior issues such as housebreaking, chewing, & biting. We guarantee your pup's first introduction to training will be non-stressful & fun! |

This 1 hour, weekly drop-in group class is specifically designed for dogs who need extra help with their social skills. Using positive reinforcement along with desensitization & counter-conditioning techniques, we teach your dog to appropriately manage their social behavior without constantly distracting them from triggers. Owners are taught the critical handling skills necessary to manage & rehabilitate their reactive dogs & will learn tactics to keep themselves, others, & their dog safe while teaching their dogs appropriate alternative behaviors. |

The S.T.A.R. Puppy Program
S.T.A.R. stands for Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility, & is designed to get you & your puppy off to the best start possible! How It Works - The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program is a 6 Week course. During our ongoing weekly program, you simply drop-in for 6 classes in a 10 week period to complete the program. These training classes are intended to teach you how to best communicate with your puppy, promote responsible dog ownership, & provide an opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs & people. Your trainer will evaluate your puppy on an ongoing basis throughout the classes, so by the time your sessions end, your puppy will already be a S.T.A.R.! AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy training is a natural lead in to the AKC Canine Good Citizen Program. |
Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program
The CGC Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners & basic good manners for dogs. It is designed to recognize & reward dogs who have good manners at home & in the community. How It Works - During our ongoing weekly program, you simply drop-in & we practice & proof the exercises required for the 10 objective CGC exam. Throughout the year, the CGC test is administered & open for any handlers & dogs that are ready. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club stating the dog has earned the CGC. Many dog owners choose CGC training as the first step in training their dogs, as it lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, & performance events. As you work with your dog to teach the CGC skills & test objectives, you'll discover the many benefits & joys of training your dog. |
